Abstract

Objective:  KEK in pregnant women can cause risks and complications in mothers, including anemia, bleeding, maternal weight gain that does not increase normally, and contracting infectious diseases. While the effect of KEK on labor can result in difficult and prolonged labor, premature delivery. Method: The study was conducted in November 2019 at the Kalabbirang Health Center in Pangkep. The population in this study were all pregnant women who came for a check-up at the KIA Polyclinic, Kalabbirang Pangkep Health Center, a sample of 68 people was obtained with the Purposive Sampling technique. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between the age of pregnant women with chronic energy shortages. The results showed that there was a relationship of knowledge with chronic energy shortages. The results showed that there was a relationship between income and chronic energy shortages. Suggestion: It is recommended that pregnant women and other women of childbearing age can plan pregnancies at the age of not at risk ie the age of 20-35 years. Whereas for pregnant women who are pregnant at risk age (<20 years or> 35 years) it is advisable to maintain a pattern of nutrient intake, especially protein during pregnancy
