ABSTRACT

Purpose: This study aims to determine the factors that affect complaints panglihatan on adolescents in Catholic Senior High School Cendrawasih Makassar. Methods: The study design was cross sectional, with population of 281 people with Proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Results: The results showed that 162 respondents obtained respondents' data with visual complaints due to television viewing of 86 respondents (79.8%), because of the use of gadgets as much as 126 respondents (119.2%), and for sleep reading as many as 85 respondents (78, 9%). From fisher's exact test result known that watching television value p = 0,006, reading while sleeping value p = 0,007, and use gadget value p = 0,000 meaning p value ? 0,05 then H0 rejected and Ha accepted so Discussion: Adolescence is period transition from childhood to adulthood. Where teenagers are often faced with various problems related to learning achievements, electronic media, and complaints on the sense of sight. Conclusion: it is concluded that there is a relationship of watching television, using gadgets, and reading while sleeping with complaints of vision in adolescents in Catholic Senior High School Cendrawasih Makassar. Suggestion: From the research result it is suggested to the health worker, to give education about the use of social media which is good and proper so that the adolescent can avoid and overcome the complaint of vision and to the institution is expected to cooperate with the health institution in monitoring the adolescent health development.
